It's been a while since the last update here. I've thought about it, but just haven't been able to work up the gumption to actually write. So, I'm declaring that this is an official "Summertime Slump." It's summer. Everyone's gone, or coming, or going anyway. We're supposed to be vegging beside a pool, sipping fruity drinks and doing skin damage in the sun. We are more "chill" than "motivated" in the myspace status bar.
Other than that, we've got Vacation Bible School going on at Edgemont. It is really going well, thanks to Stephanie and Nancy, and countless outstanding volunteers. The kids are having a great time with the Power Lab curriculum from Group. They really are enthusiastic about the power Jesus gives them for life. (Aha!) I'm always impressed how engaged the kids are, and how much they get out of VBS. It is a ton of work to pull off - huge time, energy and some $$ are needed to pull off. But if anyone needs reminding, it is worth it to share God's love in a way that we know is real and lasting. Bryan Miller remembers VBS as one of the very first places he heard about Jesus, or felt God's love for him. Ask him about it!
My sister and brother-in-law bought a house! Very cool for them to be able to get a space that will fit their growing family. We'll pop over to Hunts-patch this weekend to celebrate Emma & Mike's birthdays, and check out Bec's new digs. Maybe we'll get a few more pics of Harrison, too.
The only other thing I was going to tell you about is that I'm going with Scott tonight to see Glen Phillips in Nashville. He is the former lead singer of Toad the Wet Sprocket, if you remember them. He is a very smart songwriter. A favorite lately is called Waiting [.mp3] on the album Mr. Lemons. Check it out if you get a chance. I'll try to write something about our road trip tomorrow. Till then, ya'll chill out.
